day trips for seniors
with early to moderate memory loss

ABOUT DESERT ALOHA
Desert Aloha is a program for high-functioning seniors with early to moderate memory loss. The program offers day trips to local places of interest and includes lunch. The 4-hour trips are held on Saturdays and provide socialization and adventure for the participants while offering respite to caregivers.
Angela Salmon, Trip Leader of Desert Aloha, is a certified CARES Dementia Specialist and has been working at a local senior living community since April 2010. She is the program director for a successful outreach program which provides semi-weekly indoor cultural activities and day trips to events and destinations in Tucson and the surrounding areas.
Desert Aloha was launched in the summer of 2019 to fulfill the repeated requests for weekend outings for loved ones with memory loss and much needed respite for caregivers. The day trips were on hold due to COVID-19. However, they have resumed following the CDC recommended guidelines. Participants must be vaccinated and have received their booster shot.
