    Day Trips for Seniors

    About Desert Aloha

    ABOUT DESERT ALOHA

Desert Aloha provides FUN day trips to events and destinations in Tucson and the surrounding areas. The 5-hour outings allow for socialization, education, and recreation to high functioning participants with early to middle stages of memory loss, while offering respite to caregivers. One-on-one outings or home visits are provided upon request.

In addition to the day trips, Desert Aloha also holds cultural programs for small groups in senior living communities to learn, share stories, and do art-making.   â€‹â€‹

Angela Salmon, the Program Director of Desert Aloha, is a certified CARES Dementia Specialist who has been working with seniors since 2010. She was the program director of Handmaker Adventure Bus, an outreach program for seniors with early to middle stages of Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. The innovative program provided semi-weekly indoor cultural activities and bus trips.

Desert Aloha was launched in the summer of 2019 to fulfill the repeated requests by caregivers for weekend outings. The day trips were on hold due to COVID, however, the adventures have resumed as of October 2023.
